Force for Health Teams: You Do Matter New Orleans

Robert Gillio • Mar 24, 2020

Never underestimate the power of a teenager.
There are no barriers to those that are determined to climb over them or tear them down.

The youth of our nation inspire me and I hope can help us address our current needs. In the last couple of months, I have had the privilege to see Force for Health clubs are doing with the Learn it, Live it, Share it approach to helping themselves and then helping the community. IN the next few blogs I will highlight my favorite events and organizations with a couple  thoughts and pictures.

New Orleans:
I had the thrill of watching young people do that at the Force for Health Partner “You Do Matter” event in New Orleans. There I saw about a dozen young boys and girls, who Director Joshua Williams refers to as Scholars. The Scholars presented what they have learned with their activities building their own computers and using them to learn more about the design and function of the computer and also the human body. It was great to see an early version of “Technology and Me” be utilized. Their after school meet up at the church program has created a generation of new mentors reaching back to encourage the new members.

Let's have the courage to realize that in our moments of darkness..."there is always light if only we are brave enough to see it, if only we are brave enough to be it." Its time, young people, to "merge mercy with might, and might with right" and do the right thing to help us show compassion for all, and protect each other leading with the light of our example to wear the mask, get the shot, feed the hungry, and be kind as we come out of this challenge by making it the opportunity to create a new movement..
